- Manage appointment scheduling for patients, including new appointments, follow-up visits, and cancellations or rescheduling requests.
- Coordinate availability with healthcare providers’ schedules and ensure optimal scheduling efficiency.
Patient Intake and Registration:
- Collect patient demographic information, medical history, insurance details, and other relevant information during the registration process.
- Verify patient insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits, and communicate financial responsibilities to patients.
Telephonic and Electronic Communication:
- Answer incoming calls, respond to patient inquiries, and provide assistance with appointment scheduling, prescription refills, and general inquiries.
- Monitor and manage email correspondence, voicemail messages, and online appointment requests promptly and professionally.
Insurance Verification and Billing Support:
- Verify patient insurance coverage, eligibility, and pre-authorization requirements prior to appointments or procedures.
- Assist with insurance billing inquiries, claim submissions, and payment processing as needed.
Medical Records Management:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR) for patients, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Scan, upload, and organize medical documents, lab results, and other patient records into the EMR system.
Requirements
- Experience in medical receptionist or administrative roles, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency in medical office software and electronic health record (EHR) systems, such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech.
- Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and empathetic with patients.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance billing processes, and patient registration procedures.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced, virtual environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in patient registration, appointment scheduling, and medical records management.
- Technical proficiency with telephony systems, video conferencing platforms, and other virtual communication tools.
- Adaptability and flexibility to work remotely and collaborate with team members and healthcare providers virtually.
