Business Intelligence Analyst VA

Responsibilities

• Gather reporting requirements from leaders and translate them into clear metric definitions and dashboard specifications.
• Build and maintain dashboards in Power BI, Tableau or Looker with sensible layouts, filters and drill-downs.
• Write SQL to extract, join and aggregate data from warehouses and business systems such as ERP, CRM and finance platforms.
• Create data models and semantic layers with DAX, LookML or equivalent so measures are consistent across reports.
• Automate recurring reports and scheduled distributions, removing manual spreadsheet work.
• Validate numbers against source systems and resolve discrepancies before reports reach decision makers.
• Analyse trends, variances and anomalies and write short insight summaries that explain what the numbers mean.
• Manage access, row-level security and report governance in the BI platform.
• Train managers to use dashboards and self-service tools, and document metric definitions in a data dictionary.
• Work with data engineers to improve source data quality and request new datasets.
