- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Record financial transactions, such as invoices, receipts, payments, and bank deposits, in accounting software or spreadsheets.
- Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of transactions.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Process accounts payable invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payment to vendors and suppliers.
- Generate invoices for goods or services provided to clients or customers and follow up on outstanding payments.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up with clients on overdue invoices to facilitate timely collections.
Payroll Processing:
- Calculate and process employee payroll, including wages, bonuses, taxes, and deductions.
- Prepare and file payroll tax returns, including quarterly and annual reports, in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations regarding wage payments.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, on a regular basis.
- Analyze financial data and generate reports to provide insights into business performance and financial health.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities by providing accurate and timely financial information to management.
Audit and Compliance:
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing supporting documentation and financial records as requested.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulations in all financial transactions and reporting.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and best practices to ensure adherence to industry standards.
Requirements
- Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or accounting clerk, with strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage, as well as Microsoft Excel for spreadsheet analysis.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, record-keeping, and financial calculations.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and interact professionally with clients or vendors.
- Knowledge of payroll processing, tax laws, and regulations related to accounts payable and receivable.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to reconcile discrepancies and resolve issues independently.
- Ethical conduct and discretion when handling confidential financial information.
- Certification such as Certified Bookkeeper (CB) or similar credential is a plus, but not required.
