Responsibilities
- Administer Windows Server and Linux systems, including installation, patching, hardening and performance tuning.
- Manage Active Directory, Entra ID, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and certificate services.
- Run Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace administration including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams and security policies.
- Maintain virtualisation platforms such as VMware vSphere, Hyper-V or Proxmox, and cloud VMs in Azure or AWS.
- Implement and test backups and disaster recovery with tools such as Veeam, and document recovery procedures.
- Monitor systems with tools such as Zabbix, PRTG, Nagios or Datadog and respond to alerts before users are affected.
- Automate routine tasks with PowerShell, Bash or Ansible.
- Manage user access, security groups, MFA and least-privilege policies, and review access regularly.
- Support Level 2 escalations for server, storage and identity issues, and coordinate with vendors on hardware and licences.
- Keep infrastructure documentation, asset records and change logs current.

Requirements
- 5+ years in systems administration across Windows Server and Linux in a business environment.
- Strong Active Directory, Entra ID, Group Policy and Microsoft 365 administration skills.
- Hands-on experience with VMware or Hyper-V, backup platforms such as Veeam, and monitoring tools.
- Scripting ability in PowerShell and Bash, with Ansible or similar automation an advantage.
- Certifications such as Microsoft AZ-104, MCSA, RHCSA, CompTIA Server+ or Linux+ preferred.
- Understanding of security fundamentals including patch management, MFA and endpoint protection.
- Clear English for documentation, change requests and explaining issues to management.
- Reliable high-speed internet with a backup power source, and availability for the client's business hours and agreed maintenance windows.
