CAD Designer VA

Responsibilities

  • Technical Drawing Creation:
  • - Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed and accurate technical drawings, schematics, and plans based on project requirements, specifications, and design standards.
  • - Translate conceptual ideas, sketches, or rough drafts into precise 2D or 3D drawings, incorporating dimensions, annotations, and symbols as necessary.
  • Design Development and Modification:
  • - Collaborate with engineers, architects, or project managers to develop and refine design concepts, layouts, and configurations for various projects.
  • - Iterate on design revisions, incorporating feedback and adjustments to meet client needs, regulatory requirements, and project objectives.
  • Product and Component Design:
  • - Design and draft components, parts, and assemblies for mechanical, electrical, or architectural systems, ensuring compatibility, functionality, and manufacturability.
  • - Create detailed drawings and specifications for fabrication, machining, or construction of components and structures.
  • Collaboration and Coordination:
  • - Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, and technicians, to review designs, resolve technical issues, and ensure design integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
  • - Communicate effectively with project stakeholders to clarify requirements, address concerns, and provide updates on design progress.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance:
  • - Conduct quality checks and verifications to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance of drawings with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • - Review and validate designs for adherence to technical specifications, design guidelines, and best practices.

Requirements

  • - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Industrial Design, or related field required; specialized CAD training or certification preferred.
  • - 2+ years of experience in CAD design, drafting, or related roles, with proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or CATIA.
  • - Strong understanding of drafting principles, technical drawing standards, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • - Knowledge of industry-specific design principles and practices, such as mechanical design, electrical design, or architectural drafting.
  • - Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex technical requirements and translate them into accurate design solutions.
  • - Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate design concepts and specifications.
  • - Familiarity with design visualization techniques, including 3D modeling, rendering, and animation, to communicate design intent and concepts effectively.
  • - Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously, while adhering to project deadlines and deliverables.
  • - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and technical documentation tools for creating reports, presentations, and project documentation.
  • - Commitment to continuous learning and professional development to stay updated on CAD software updates, industry trends, and emerging technologies in design and engineering.
